Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek is the first faculty in the 21stcentury in Slavonia and the youngest faculty in the field of biomedicine and health in Croatia. It was established upon the decision of the Senate of the University of J. J. Strossmayer in Osijek on 25th April 2017. It continues the tradition of studying in the field of biomedicine and health in Osijek that lasts since 1979 when the dislocated study of medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the University in Zagreb was launched.
The Faculty conducts the following study programmes at the moment:
- Integrated undergraduate and graduate university study programme of Dental medicine
- Undergraduate and graduate university study programme of Nursing
- Undergraduate and graduate university study programme of Physiotherapy
- Undergraduate university study programme of Dental hygiene
- Postgraduate specialist study programme – Nursing
- Postgraduate specialist study programme – Psychiatry
- Postgraduate specialist study programme – Ophthalmology with optometry
Dean’s foreword
The listed study programmes have already become recognisable educational frameworks that educated and train high-quality health workers necessary in Eastern Croatia.
The biggest teaching base of the Faculty is the Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek, in whose clinics, departments and institutes our students acquire clinical knowledge and skills necessary to fulfil their calling, as well as a clear vision of necessary permanent education.
The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek signed contracts with health institutions and with administrative local units and self-administrative units in Eastern Croatia.
In conclusion, the calling of our students of our university studies is more than just a profession – everyone who studies at our Faculty will one day get a diploma but also big moral responsibility to conduct their calling honourably. The Faculty will ensure the acquisition of the best competences and an ethical foundation, and their job is to refresh their knowledge and skills to be able to fulfil their calling as high-quality, highly ethical and honourable experts.
