4. Postgraduate course of Continuing Medical Education (CME) of the first category "Rehabilitation in clinical medicine"

The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek organized the 4th Postgraduate Continuing Medical Education (CME) Course "Rehabilitation in Clinical Medicine" on October 20 and 21, 2022 in Orahovica. The Croatian Society of Cardiology, the Working Group for e-Cardiology and the Working Group for Prevention and Rehabilitation in Cardiology participated in the organization of the course. Cardiovascular diseases are the biggest public health problem in developed countries. In the Republic of Croatia, 22,958 people died of cardiovascular diseases in 2021. How to further improve rehabilitation, what are the possibilities for new outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation centers in Croatia, how to apply more digital health methods, and whether we are successfully responding to new medical challenges, including the treatment of the consequences of the COVID -19 threat, these are all very important issues for healthcare system and the improvement of rehabilitation, which were also discussed in the course.


The course in Orahovica was held over two days, October 20 and 21, 2022, in the Faculty building in Orahovica. The course was opened with a corresponding speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek, Prof. Aleksandar Včev, Ph.D., also thanked all the lecturers for improving and enriching the teaching program at the study of physiotherapy in Orahovica through their continuous presence and addressing current rehabilitation topics in clinical medicine. Prof. Goran Krstačić, Ph.D.  emphasized his great satisfaction with the organization of the fourth consecutive course, the large number of lecturers from all over Croatia, as well as the excellence of medical education in Orahovica.


On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of outpatient cardiovascular rehabilitation at the Polyclinic for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases and Rehabilitation of Cardiac Patients in Zagreb, of which he is the director, he distributed certificates of gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health, prof. Aleksandar Včev, Ph.D., the Mayor of Orahovica, Mr. Saša Rister, and cooperating and friendly institutions, the Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation of Heart, Lung and Rheumatism, Thalassotherapia Opatija, and the Special Hospital for Medical Rehabilitation Krapinske Toplice.


The course was attended by experts of all profiles working in institutions where cardiovascular rehabilitation is performed, from Krapinske Toplice, Opatija and Zagreb, as well as from the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek. The content of the course was very interesting and interactive with current topics in rehabilitation from the fields of medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, psychotherapy and nutrition.


At the end of the two-day course, the leaders once again thanked all the lecturers and course participants and once again emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to rehabilitation. In our beautiful Orahovica, with friendly hosts led by the Mayor of Orahovica, Mr. Saša Rister, we announced our next postgraduate course entitled "Oral Health and Heart", which will be held in Orahovica in spring, also at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek.
