Within the framework of the project Physio expert, a scientific workshop on "Fascia and its limitations" was held on May 22 under the leadership of assistant Meri Reili, mag. physioth. Students of the 3rd year of the basic study of physiotherapy in Orahovica participated in the scientific workshop on myofascial relaxation technique. The aim of the workshop "Fascia and its limitations" was to give the participants the opportunity to learn how to relax and release tension from muscles and connective tissues (fascia). Fascia is a network of thin, flexible fibers that envelops muscles and organs in the body. When fascia is tight or inflamed, it can cause pain and discomfort and limit range of motion. The workshop gave participants the opportunity to understand how to release tension in the patient's muscles and fascia. Participants were introduced to various muscle and fascia relaxation techniques.
On May 25, an educational-scientific workshop entitled "Lymph and I - the right school of lymphedema" was held under the direction of assistant Dorothea Bedeković, mag. physioth. The workshop started with an instructive lecture on the occurrence of lymphedema in women after breast mastectomy, and later with independent bandaging of the upper extremities. Participants learned to recognize the main signs of infection, as well as the difference between the warning signs, and were introduced to the proper first aid kit. Since prevention is the best way to fight lymphedema, they were familiarized with guidelines that are extremely important in their daily lives, such as wearing a compression cuff, proper and adequate skin care, avoiding extreme temperature differences, etc. The aim of this scientific workshop was to help participants understand the importance of manual lymphatic drainage in oncology patients and to promote appropriate and correct treatment of lymphedema. We thank all students for their participation.
