Institute for biology

There are two laboratories within the Institute for biology: Laboratory for histology and genetics, and Laboratory for andrology and biology of human reproduction.

The scientific-research work of the Laboratory for histology and genetics entails basic research in the field of biomedicine and health, with special emphasis on histological research on various animal and human models, and research in the field of molecular genetics, and in the field of cell biology. The laboratory is equipped with modern furniture and equipment for histological tissue analysis, and for molecular analyses by applying different molecular-genetic methods. The public’s raised awareness on the connection of genetics and personal health has increased demand for establishing genetic status, which is why the Laboratory examines samples and consequences of natural genetic variations in different medical conditions.

The Laboratory for andrology and biology of human reproduction is focused on researching fertility and infertility, what is in today's world an important field of research, especially with male infertility increasing. Additionally, the results of the research of this Laboratory can contribute to the understandings of fertilisation and development of the human embryo.
