Institute for Tele-radiology and Artificial Intelligence

Head of Institute:

Ass. prof. Tamer Salha, PhD
BASIC ACTIVITY

The basic activity of the Institute for Tele-radiology and Artificial Intelligence is expert activity within clinical and dental radiology and scientific activity in the field of biomedicine and health, i.e. clinical medicine and dentistry.

In its genesis the Institute for Tele-radiology and Artificial Intelligence is established on the platform of modern telecommunication and digital information networks of ultra fast information transmission as the basis of the project “film-less radiology” and the idea of data collection in a unique base networked with other data bases.

The globally more accessible and more economic alternative of the previous radiology functioning within hospital systems enables instantaneous and fast service of high-quality radiological specialist expertise and specific specialist expertise in consulting or team process of radiology interpretation. This leads to evaluation of the most complex casuistry in radiology that is independent of hospital systems or health institutions where the radiology check-up is done.

The Institute for Tele-radiology and Artificial Intelligence is unique and stands out as centre of excellence in which quality is based on knowledge of experienced and educated staff in expert and scientific research work in the field of radiology and the IT sector.

The goal of the Institute is to raise quality and the accessibility of radiological subspecialist services in all areas of the regional health network. Another goal is to unload the system by more even distribution of radiological check-ups onto available health institutions that own radiological instruments for visual diagnostics, which would consequently affect the rationalisation and optimisation of radiological check-ups, lead to economic savings and protection from excessive radiation.

Educational and/or teaching programmes by virtual tele-learning transmission like online workshops, courses or web seminars (webinars) in an interactive manner enable the simplest and the most economical educational model with an unlimited number of participants.

ACTIVITIES OF THE INSTITUTE INCLUDE:
  • systematic scientific, developmental and expert research from the previously mentioned scientific fields, activities to promote public health,
  • scientific education and training, as well as maintenance and development of scientific infrastructure,
  • providing expert specialist and subspecialist services, including diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative,
  • compiling case studies and other studies, plans, strategies etc., providing advisory and supervising services, publishing and popularising results of scientific and expert research conducted within the Institute,
  • collaboration with the Croatian Society for Integrative Medicine and with national and international institutions when executing scientific research,
  • collaboration with higher education institutions when conducting undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate study programmes in accordance with the Law and the signed agreements with higher education institutions, organisation of international and national scientific and expert meetings, conferences, courses of permanent education, workshops etc.,
  • all other activities, foreseen by the Statute of the University in Osijek and the Statute of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek,
  • teaching activities within undergraduate, graduate, integrated and postgraduate university study programmes at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek
