BASIC ACTIVITY
The basic activity of the Institute for Dental Medicine is scientific activity from the field of biomedicine and health, especially in carrying out translational research in the field of dental medicine. It also executes fundamental, clinical and public health research with the goal to enable integrative and holistic treating of humans.
The Institute for Dental Medicine will conduct scientific research according to priorities and strategies of development for the region of Slavonia and Baranja, as well as the Republic of Croatia, with the purpose to apply research results in the biomedical activities for the local community’s benefit – and all citizens of the Republic. The programme of the Institute for Dental Medicine will be based on arranged scientific-research projects, national and international projects as well as teaching, research and promotional activities in the field of biomedicine and health.
ACTIVITIES OF THE INSTITUTE
Activities of the institute include:
- systematic scientific, developmental and expert research from the previously mentioned scientific fields, activities to promote public health,
- scientific education and training, as well as maintenance and development of scientific infrastructure,
- providing expert specialist and subspecialist services, including diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative,
- compiling case studies and other studies, plans, strategies etc., providing advisory and supervising services, publishing and popularising results of scientific and expert research conducted within the Institute,
- collaboration with the Croatian Society for Integrative Medicine and with national and international institutions when executing scientific research,
- collaboration with higher education institutions when conducting undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate study programmes in accordance with the Law and the signed agreements with higher education institutions, organisation of international and national scientific and expert meetings, conferences, courses of permanent education, workshops etc.,
- all other activities, foreseen by the Statute of the University in Osijek and the Statute of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek,
- teaching activities within integrated undergraduate and graduate university study programmes of dental medicine
TEACHING ACTIVITY
The employees of the Institute are currently involved in conducting several study programmes: integrated undergraduate and graduate studies of dental medicine, undergraduate university study of nursing, graduate university study of nursing, undergraduate and graduate university study of physiotherapy, undergraduate university study of dental hygiene and doctoral study programme of Biomedicine and health (at the Faculty of Medicine Osijek). Besides the listed studies, the following are also conducted: postgraduate specialist study of Ophthalmology with optometry, postgraduate specialist study of Neurology and postgraduate university study of Psychiatry.

When the Institute for Dental Medicine was established, a certain number of scientists had to be employed pursuant to the Law.
