THE SUBJECT MATTER OF THE SCIENTIFIC-RESEARCH ACTIVITY OF THE INSTUTUTE FOR INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE AT THE FACULTY OF MEDICINE OSIJEK
Scientific-research, as well as expert and educational activities of the Institute for Integrative Medicine will be mostly conducted in the following disciplines:
- in the field of biomedicine and health,
- in the field of humanities and social sciences,
- in the artistic field,
- in the interdisciplinary fields of science and art
When the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek was established through structural changes in the Faculty of Medicine, the Institute for Integrative Medicine continued its activities at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek.
With further development of the Institute for Integrative Medicine will the mentioned fields be developed in which the activities of the institute will be executed. Intensive collaboration with various scientists will aid in fulfilling the planned activities; scientists from Croatia, from abroad, from the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek, from the Croatian Society for Integrative Medicine, from other faculties from the field of biomedicine and health in Croatia and from the faculties we traditionally have friendly relations with: in Ljubljana, Maribor, Novi Sad, Pecs, Tuzla, Szeged, Modena, Štip, Medical College of Wisconsin, etc.
ORGANISATION
Within the Institute there are the following departments and laboratories:
- Department of physiopathology, physiology and immunology
- Department of pharmacology and biochemistry
- Department of social sciences and humanities in biomedicine
- Laboratory of translational medicine
BASIC ACTIVITY
The basic activity of the Institute for Integrative Medicine is scientific activity from the field of biomedicine and health and other before mentioned fields, especially conducting research with the goal to enable integrative and holistic treating of humans.
The Institute for Integrative Medicine will conduct scientific research according to priorities and strategies of development for the region of Slavonia and Baranja, as well as the Republic of Croatia, with the purpose to apply research results in the biomedical activities for the local community’s benefit – and all citizens of the Republic. The programme of the Institute for Integrative Medicine will be based on arranged scientific-research projects, national and international projects as well as teaching, research and promotional activities in the field of biomedicine and health and other before mentioned fields.
ACTIVITIES OF THE INSTITUTE
- systematic scientific, developmental and expert research from the previously mentioned scientific fields, activities to promote public health,
- scientific education and training, as well as maintenance and development of scientific infrastructure,
- providing expert specialist and subspecialist services, including diagnostic, therapeutic, preventive and rehabilitative,
- compiling case studies and other studies, plans, strategies etc., providing advisory and supervising services, publishing and popularising results of scientific and expert research conducted within the Institute,
- collaboration with the Croatian Society for Integrative Medicine and with national and international institutions when executing scientific research,
- collaboration with higher education institutions when conducting undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate study programmes in accordance with the Law and the signed agreements with higher education institutions, organisation of international and national scientific and expert meetings, conferences, courses of permanent education, workshops etc.,
- all other activities, foreseen by the Statute of the University in Osijek and the Statute of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek,
- teaching activities within undergraduate, graduate, integrated and postgraduate university study programmes at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek
TEACHING ACTIVITY
The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek of the University of Josip Juraj Strossmayer in Osijek currently conducts several study programmes: integrated undergraduate and graduate university studies of dental medicine, undergraduate university study of nursing, graduate university study of nursing, undergraduate and graduate university study of physiotherapy, undergraduate university study of dental hygiene. Besides the listed studies, the following are also conducted: postgraduate specialist study of Ophthalmology with optometry, postgraduate specialist study of Neurology and postgraduate university study of Psychiatry.
