On October 3rd and 4th, 2024, the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek hosted a meeting of project partners from Finland, Ireland, and Croatia. The project titled “EduCanNURS – Towards Cancer Care Continuum Approach in Undergraduate Nursing Education” aims to enhance the quality of undergraduate education for nurses in the field of oncology patient care.
The specific objectives of the project are to:
- develop a continuous learning approach for oncology patient care in nursing curricula,
- create an implementation model with a pilot module,
- test and evaluate the module, and
- develop a tool for instructors and lecturers of oncology nursing care, along with recommendations for the further development of undergraduate nursing education in oncology care.
Assist. Prof. Ivana Barać, PhD, Head of the Department of Nursing and Palliative Medicine, welcomed the project partners, and Full Prof. Martina Smolić, PhD, Vice Dean for Science and Postgraduate Studies, extended a warm welcome as well.
Senior lecturer Silvija Piškorjanac, as the project leader at the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek, presented a report on the activities so far. After analysis and evaluation of progress, further steps were agreed upon, including preparation for publishing a scientific paper.
The project is progressing as planned, and it was agreed that, alongside regular monthly online meetings, the next in-person meeting would be held in Galway, Ireland, at the end of April 2025.
A few days after the Osijek meeting, an online Steering Committee meeting was held, attended by Full Prof. Martina Smolić, PhD as a representative of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek.
