On September 27th, 2024, the promotion of the university textbook "Gynecology and Perinatology" was held in the Great Hall of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health in Osijek.
The chief editor of the textbook is Rajko Fureš, and the editorial board members are Vesna Ćosić, Ivana Erceg Ivkošić, Siniša Šijanović, Miroslav Kopjar, and Žana Stanić. The publisher of the textbook is the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek, part of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, while the co-publishers are the Medical Faculty of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, the Croatian Society for Gynecological Endoscopy of the Croatian Medical Association (HLZ), and the General Hospital Zabok and the Hospital of Croatian Veterans.
The textbook was promoted by the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek, Aleksandar Včev, the Dean of the Medical Faculty of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, Ivica Mihaljević, the Vice Dean for Science and Postgraduate Studies of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek, Martina Smolić, and the First Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Gynecology, Dragan Primorac. The editors of the textbook, Vesna Ćosić, Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Gynecology, Siniša Šijanović, Vice Dean for Collaboration with Teaching Bases at the Medical Faculty Osijek, and Rajko Fureš, Chief Editor, Head of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and Deputy Director of the General Hospital Zabok and the Hospital of Croatian Veterans, presented the textbook.
The musical part of the promotion featured the eminent musician and lutenist Daria Shafie, from the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague, Netherlands.
A total of 98 authors from both Croatia and abroad contributed to the creation of the textbook. The 504 pages of this large-format book contain 206 images, 53 tables, 2 graphs, and 1,136 bibliographic references. "Gynecology and Perinatology" is the first integral university textbook on gynecology and perinatology in the Croatian language. Its content fully aligns with the syllabus of the Gynecology and Obstetrics course and is intended for students of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, the Medical Faculty, the Nursing Studies, Physiotherapy Studies, and numerous other healthcare fields.
