On Thursday, January 9th, 2025, the training "Fear of Children in Contact with Healthcare Personnel" was held in cooperation with the Student Council of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health in Osijek and Glorija Peranić, univ.mag.rehab.educ., univ.bacc.praesc.educ., the educator behind the brand Educator for Education. The training lasted two hours and was held online via the Zoom platform.
Through the lecture, Glorija provided students of physiotherapy, nursing and dental medicine with useful guidelines for working with children in a professional context. She explained the causes of children's resistance to diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and gave specific advice and examples for communicating with children in the above situations. Students received information on how to help parents prepare their child, how to make a quality initial contact and gain the child's trust, and how to ease stressful situations in a health care institution for a child when faced with many unknowns. The interactive Q&A part of the lecture was particularly valuable, during which students asked questions related to situations from their own practice. Upon completion of the training, students received a certificate of attendance.
Glorija Peranić praised the students for their active participation and interest in this topic, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness for working with children in the health care system. This lecture showed the importance of additional education for future health care professionals with the aim of better understanding and approaching children, and the great interest of the students confirms the usefulness of such initiatives.
