Members and associates of the Department of Dental Medicine teach at two study programmes: Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate University Study of Dental Medicine and Undergraduate University Study of Dental Hygiene. Through courses offered at the Department, students acquire pre-clinical and clinical knowledge. The complexity of the current scientific cognitions requires adding up of the courses and combining the knowledge and skills acquired.
The knowledge students acquire throughout a course includes theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for diagnostics, therapy and rehabilitation of the disease and the state of stomatognathic system. They are a prerequisite for a successful work of dentalpractitioners and dental technicians. The scope of educational work of the Department represents the basis for accomplishing everyday duties of dental practitioners in primary health care. Students also acquire the cognition of the integration of basic medical researchand clinical research in dental medicine. The integration of the research and acquiring new notions are a prerequisite for a critical analysis and understanding of the scientific data. The use of the newest technologies and materials poses a challenge and raises the level of health protection for all age groups.
