One of the world's most significant scientific events in the field of personalized medicine was held in Dubrovnik, jointly organized by the International Society for Applied Biological Sciences (ISABS), St. Katarina Special Hospital and the leading American health institution Mayo Clinic: "12th ISABS Conference on Forensic and Anthropologic Genetics and Mayo Clinic Lectures in Individualized Medicine", took place in Dubrovnik from June 22 to 27, 2022, and faculty members of the Faculty of dental medicine and Health Osijek also participated.
The students and assistants of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek are very proud of their professor, Prof. Aleksandar Včev, Ph.D. , prof. Martina Smolić and Associate Professor, Robert Smolić,Ph.D. who have been members of the organizing committee of the ISABS Conference for many years and encouraged them to actively participate in such a prestigious scientific event.
Our students and assistants successfully presented six poster presentations in the field of translational medicine at the 12th ISABS conference, which was attended by more than 60 invited speakers and 500 participants, including three Nobel laureates. They also had the honor to be live at Nobel Spirit, a special show within the ISABS conference, held in the historic setting of the Duke's Palace Atrium, where Prof. Dragan Primorac, Ph.D., professor of our faculty met with Nobel laureates Sir Richard Roberts, prof. Thomas Südhof, Ph.D. , and prof. Aaron Chechanover, Ph.D. stimulated a public debate on the role of science in solving global health problems, acute regional problems such as brain drain, demographic decline, and cultural and social changes. Thus, the world's scientific elite sent messages from Dubrovnik to the world about the latest scientific and medical achievements in personalized and regenerative medicine, as well as forensic and anthropological genetics. In the closing speech, Prof. Dragan Primorac, Ph.D., Founder and President of ISABS, pointed out that the ISABS conference is considered one of the most important scientific events in biomedicine in 2022 and a place from which we want to see the strength and progress of personalized medicine, which will create significant value for the healthcare system.
