Dear Invited Speakers, Friends and Colleagues,
Welcome to the 8th Biennial International Conference on Liver Diseases (8th BIC- Liver2024) to be held on June 13-15, 2024 at the University of Osijek, Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health in Osijek, Croatia.
Despite great strides in our knowledge of physiology and pathophysiology of liver diseases, effective therapy in many areas remains elusive. Diseases such as metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease, drug-induced liver injury, autoimmune, and viral hepatitis are common in Croatia and worldwide. They can and often do lead to chronic liver disease which can complicate dental procedures, nursing care and physical therapy. Therefore, it is important to appreciate the relationship between liver dysfunction as it relates to dental medicine, nursing and physical therapy – study programs taught at the University of Osijek, Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health. For this reason, we gather on a regular basis, local and international experts to present the latest findings and developments in the diagnosis and therapy of liver diseases. The historic city of Osijek serves as a wonderful venue that perfectly complements the exciting scientific program. Located on fertile land fed by the Drava and Danube rivers, and guarded by century-old castles, the region of Baranja offers a dazzling variety of culinary and potable delights. Excursions included in the meeting program provide a marvelous opportunity for participants to experience, in a convivial atmosphere, the cuisine and culture of this historic region of Croatia. If the quality of this year’s meeting approaches that of past meetings, it will prove to be a scientific, cultural, and gastronomic delight.
We look forward to welcoming you, and sharing scientific knowledge while making new collaborations, and friendships.
