The first COLOURS (Collaborative Innovative Sustainable Regional Universities) International Conference was held at the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek, on October 24th and 25th, 2024.
The COLOURS alliance of universities is a European network of educational institutions dedicated to promoting innovative and interdisciplinary education. The goal of this alliance is to stimulate digital transformation, talent development, and support smart specializations and research initiatives through international cooperation.
Members, including the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University in Osijek, collaborate on projects that open up new opportunities for students and researchers across Europe. COLOURS brings together nine universities – in addition to the University of Osijek, partners from Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Poland, North Macedonia, and Latvia are involved. The network connects 126,000 students and 12,300 employees, while 55 associated partners strengthen the connection with the regional innovation environment.
The conference was also attended by assistants from the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek, with the support of the Vice-Dean for Science and Postgraduate Studies, Prof. Martina Smolić, PhD, through workshops in the Creators’ Corner. The Step into Tomorrow: Feel Aging in Action workshop enabled students and teachers to experience the challenges of old age through the simulation of physiological changes. The workshop was led by assistants Željko Mudri, Marija Barišić, Maja Čebohin and Karla Rožac. In an additional activity of the workshop, Ana Petrović, Nika Srb and Suzana Blažanović presented the potential of virtual and simulation technologies in teaching by demonstrating the use of virtual reality glasses.
