On June 6, 2025, a solemn session of the Senate of the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek was held at the Cultural Center in Osijek, marking the 50th anniversary of the founding of our University. This important jubilee brought together numerous guests from the academic community, the economy and public life, and the session was an opportunity to recall half a century of development, achievements and joint contribution to science, education and society.
The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Ivan Anušić, Prefect of Osijek-Baranja County and Envoy of the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Nataša Tramišak, Deputy Mayor of Osijek Dragan Vulin, Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Đakovo-Osijek Đuro Hranić, numerous rectors of foreign and Croatian universities, the Rector and Vice-Rectors and members of the Senate of the University of Osijek, and other guests.
As part of the ceremony, awards were given to the most outstanding employees and associates of the University for scientific excellence and exceptional contributions. We are particularly proud to point out the recognitions that were awarded to the employees of the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek:
• Prof. Martina Smolić, PhD, Vice-Dean for Science and Postgraduate Studies, was awarded the University Award for Exceptional Achievements in Science in the Field of Biomedicine and Health, which recognized her long-term scientific work, international visibility and contribution to the development of research excellence at the Faculty.
• Prof. Dragan Primorac, PhD, was awarded the University Award for the overall highest citation, which confirms his exceptional contribution to the Croatian scientific community and the global reach of his scientific research work.
The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health Osijek congratulates all the awardees. We especially congratulate our prof. Martina Smolić and our prof. Dragan Primorac for these great recognitions and we thank them for their persistent work, dedication and promotion of scientific excellence of the Faculty!
