GYNAECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS

There are no particular conditions for this course except those defined by the teaching plan and programme of the entire study programme.

Menstrual cycle. Disorders in the menstrual cycle. Infertility in marriage. Pregnancy and delivery. Pathological changes during pregnancy and delivery. Infant monitoring. Puerperium. Miscarriage and premature delivery. Ectopic pregnancy. Acute and chronic inflammation of the female reproductive system. Sexually transmitted diseases. Benign and malignant tumours of the female reproductive system.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the physiological processes of the menstrual cycle, fertilization, pregnancy and childbirth and identify disorders of the same
  2. Identify and explain the most common symptoms of gynecological diseases and take appropriate procedures important in diagnosis and treatment
  3. Recognize and intervene in newborn disorders
  4. Interpret the legislation in Croatia related to abortion and sexual intercourse with a minor
  5. Explain and educate about methods of prevention of sexually transmitted diseases, as well as methods of primary and secondary prevention of malignant diseases of the female reproductive system
  1. Educate about contraception
