HEALTH CARE OF SURGICAL PATIENTS

Acquirement of additional knowledge necessary for participation in teamwork and professional and responsible physical therapy conducting. 

Clinical examination of surgical patients; preparation of patients for operation; postoperative care. Recognition of complications after surgery and injury. Immobilization in bone-joint surgery. Indirect procedure with the patient after injury of locomotor system. Approach to the patient after specific surgical procedures.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Analyze the organization of work in the surgical department
  2. Implement infection prevention measures in the surgical ward
  3. Analyze the specifics of physiotherapy care in preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative care of surgical patients
  4. Assess the surgical patient's needs for physiotherapy interventions
  5. Apply interventions in special areas of surgical care of surgical patients in accordance with the principles, standards and legal regulations
  6. Evaluate the goals and plans of physiotherapeutic procedures in special areas of surgical care of surgical patients
