Nutrition and health

Gaining additional knowledge necessary for participating in team work as well as professional and responsible conduction of physical therapy.

Learning about ways of healthy nutrition; preventive and clinical approach in healthy nutrition, learning about and mastering methods for assessment of nutrition status; measures to evaluate and enhance nutrition; public health aspect of food disorders, nutrition deficit and diseases caused by excessive food intake; measures to evaluate and enhance nutrition in society; nutrition in special conditions.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. determine the structure and function of the digestive system and the physiology of digestion;
  2. compare appropriate and inadequate clinical diet;
  3. argue the pathophysiological mechanisms of diseases caused by poor nutrition;
  4. assess nutritional status;
  5. recommend a basic plan for proper sports nutrition; 
  6. select the most important components of the diet plan for patients in the rehabilitation process.
