Get students aquainted with basic information technology in nursing and its application in health care. The gained knowledge should help students in understanding health care information systems, especially in the Croatian health care system, computer techniques in the nursing profession and how to work with relational databases. The acquired skills would enable students to use computers to communicate and to search databases as well as to use information technology for compiling nursing documetation.
Determining fundamental terms of IT and its significance for knowledge development and enhancement of professional practice;
Technical baseline of information systems – basic parts and their function;
Program support necessary for computer systems to work– program support to the system, application program support;
Basic forms of computer usage when searching databases with the goal to learn and research;
Health care information system: principles and levels;
Using IT to improve processes of health care (evidence based nursing care);
Using IT in communication processes in health facilities;
Using e-nursing documentation and its permanent improvement.
