CLINICAL PRACTICE II.

Provide students with basic knowledge on how to put up a patient in neurologic, internist and paediatric departments in regards to health care.

The acquired knowledge and skills should enable students to understand the overall process of nursing care for a patient in neurologic, internist and paediatric departments. Students will know how to apply proper nursing care in the mentioned fields. 

Providing health care to patients in neurologic, internist and paediatric departments, preparation of patients for therapy and diagnostic procedures, applying the Mantoux test  and ECG, preparation and application of IV medication, preparation and application of infusion suspension with an infusion pump, preparation and application of a transfusion, putting a patient in isolation, application of cytostatic therapy, general monitoring of a patient, indication to involve and insert a nasogastric tube, taking samples for microbiologic examination, care of a healthy child, care of a sick child regarding all organ systems, estimating growth and development of an infant, psychological and physical development of a child, specific care of premature children, preparation of a child for medical and technical procedures, care of a child in emergencies, reanimation techniques and procedures with infants and small children, communication with parents.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. apply infection prevention measures and safety rules at work to work in a safe manner;

2. apply ethical principles and communication skills to the patient, his family, members of the health care team, other staff and the community;

3. apply nursing procedures in internal medicine, infectology, neurology and pediatrics patients independently and / or in a professional team in accordance with the principles, standards and legal regulations;

4. carry out the nursing process; assessment of health care needs, goal setting, plan development and implementation of procedures, and evaluation considering individuality, holistic approach and partnership with the patient;

5. carry out prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic procedures independently and / or in a professional team under supervision;

6. keep nursing records;

7. take responsibility for the implementation of the health care process in accordance with the principles, standards and legal regulations.
