OPHTHALMOLOGY

Familiarise students with basic principles of ophthalmology.

Familiarise students with the most significant diseases of the eye.

Explain to students the importance of treating ophthalmology patients.

Explain to students the process of diagnosing and treating ophthalmologypatients.

Orbit and ocular adnexa, pathway of tears, diseases of the bulbar conjunctiva, diseases of the cornea and sclera, application of mydriatics, antibiotics and steroids - locally, drops, ointments, subconjunctival injections, diseases of vascular layer of eyeball, diseases of the lens (cataract) and vitreous humour, diseases of the retina, diseases of the optic nerve, glaucoma, refractive errors of the eye, strabology, eye injuries.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Analyse the most significant eye diseases that are important to nurses / technicians in assessing the health status of patients;
  2. Conduct health care of ophthalmic patients;
  3. Apply procedures during participation in the process of diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic patients.
