Course content, including practical knowledge gained during practical lessons, is focused on mental health and diseases, and is an upgrade to the content that students gained in psychological group of courses. Improvement of mental health and estimation of mental system makes basis for studying mental disorders, specific techniques and continuous health care and rehabilitation. Course content

includes introduction to negotiation techniques, interventions in critical situations and health care for patients in forensic departments.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1.     argue the facts and theoretical knowledge within the field of health care of psychiatric patients and medicine.

2.     apply nursing care procedures independently and/or in a professional team following the principles, standards, and legal regulations of psychiatric patients.

3.     carry out the nursing care process, health care needs assessment, goal setting, plan development and implementation of procedures, evaluation.

4.     manage nursing records.

5.     apply the principles and techniques of teaching users based on the assessment of education needs.

6.     evaluate the standards of nursing practice to improve quality, improve mental health, and assessing mental status as a competent member of a multidisciplinary team.

7.     apply ethical principles and communication skills in working with a psychiatric patient, negotiation techniques, group therapy, and specific interventions in crises.

8.     develop attitudes related to the promotion of mental health and assistance to individuals and their families in coping with mental disorders.
