Intellectual disability, disorders of psychological development, behavioural and emotional disorders in childhood and adolescence. Urgent conditions in psychiatry. Modern organization of psychiatric services. Basics of different approaches in psychiatry, pharmacotherapy. Social and legal status of mental patients and their rights.

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
1. explain the psychosocial model for understanding the development and treatment of mental disorders;
2. explain epidemiological data on mental health;
3. analyze factors that may influence mental health and mental disorders;
4. conduct an interview;
5. apply ethical principles and communication skills in the therapist-patient relationship;
6. recognize and deal with feelings of transference and countertransference;
7. explain the importance of patient motivation in treatment.
