The objective of the course is to allow students to master the knowledge and skills applied in day-to-day dental practices. By mastering the basic skills for applying intraoral imaging methods, the dental hygienist will be able to both perform and control the accuracy of any intraoral radiographic procedure.
FUNDAMENTALS OF RADIOLOGY Research subject, mechanisms of action
of ionising radiation. Sensitivity of the human body to ionising radiation.
Principle of X-ray image formation.
BASIC PRINCIPLES OF CONDUCTING EXAMINATIONS Preparing patients for radiological examinations. Anatomical planes, lines and points. Positioning patients for applying individual radiological methods. Principles of imaging in children, elderly persons and persons with special needs. Principles of applying radiological methods in radiotherapy patients.
PROTECTION AGAINST INFECTION DURING THE APPLICATION OF INDIVIDUAL METHODS Protection against infection in the preparation of patients for an imaging examination. Protection against infection during an imaging examination. Protection against infection during chemical processing of the image.
ARTIFACTS Artifacts occurring during the imaging procedure. Artifacts occurring after chemical processing. Artifacts occurring during image storage.
