PHARMACOLOGY

The objective of the course is to familiarise students with the principles of administering medications used in the dental office on a daily basis, such as: disinfectants, antiseptics for soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity, anti-infectives for preventing and treating oral infections, medications used in endodontics and administered to the oral mucosa, and medications increasing caries resistance of teeth. Regarding other pharmacotherapeutic classes of medications, students are familiarised with the basic characteristics of individual classes and their possible side effects occurring in the orofacial region, as well as with the possible interactions between those medications and medications used in the dental office on a daily basis.
