General toxicology.
Specialised pharmacology: overview of medication according to individual pharmacodynamic groups.

After the lectures, seminars and labs, self-study and the passed exam students will be able to:
- Critically appraise the principles and mechanisms of drug action (pharmacodynamics) and drug fate in the organism (pharmacokinetics).
- Distinguish the properties of different drugs from different pharmacotherapeutic groups and subgroups
- Predict the pharmacological effects, side effects, indications, contraindications and toxicity of different drug groups used in dental medicine
- Establish clinically most severe and common drug poisonings and establish the treatment of a poisoned patient in dental medicine
- Evaluate indications, contraindications, side effects and interactions of drugs of different pharmacological groups.
- Recommend the appropriate pharmacotherapy for the treatment of oral disease.
