Minimally invasive surgery

To familiarize students with examination of theoretical and practical achievements of endoscopic surgery.   

Course contains an overview of theoretical and practical achievements in endoscopic surgery and in thoracic and abdominal surgeries. Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is nowadays accepted surgical technique that is conducted in almost all surgeries in the mentioned areas. Theoretical part contains the area of technical aspect of necessary surgery implementation (equipment, instruments, electricity in medicine, gasses, patients’ safety), so that through basic procedures from daily surgical programs the participants understand values of MIS.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Valorize methods of minimally invasive surgery

2. Assess patients and conditions that are suitable for the application of minimally invasive surgical methods

3. Compare the advantages and disadvantages of classical and endoscopic surgery

4. Assess the need for collaboration with doctors of other specialties
