Children’s and preventive dental medicine 2

Teaching content in pediatric dentistry should provide the student with knowledge about the specifics of growth and development of dental and orofacial structures, the specifics of pathology, pathogenesis and course of treatment of teeth and mouth of patients of childhood and adolescence. A special task is to master the knowledge necessary to work with children with disabilities, with special emphasis on the specifics of pathology and treatment of persons with different types of physical, mental or emotional handicap. Students must also acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to apply various procedures to control a child's behavior and basic diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for the treatment of hard and soft tissue diseases in deciduous and permanent dentition. They should also master the procedures for diagnosing and treating the most common dental injuries in children as well as the available methods for their prevention.
