Heart Failure Syndrome

The course aims to introduce students to the concept of heart failure, disease of increased occurrence nowadays, especially in older patients.  Given the aforementioned, and since older people are very often dental patients, it is useful that students learn more about heart failure in the study programme of dental medicine in order to gain competencies in the field of clinical and emergency medicine. Acute and chronic cardiac failure can result in sudden cardiac death, therefore it is desirable that students recognise patients with this diagnosis so that they can prevent an adverse event in time.
