Emergency Medical Assistance

Students review basic reanimation procedures and build on knowledge and skills through additional reanimation procedures. At the end of the theoretical part of the lecture, students will have knowledge on emergency situations and injuries in which urgent action is needed and will know how to conduct certain procedures. They will know the tools, devices and certain medicines needed for successful assistance to the injured and the patient in emergency conditions and will know how to use them properly.

Repetition of basic CPR procedures, additional CPR procedures, use of aids. Defibrillation, establishing intravenous access, airway supply, acute stroke, acute coronary syndrome, cardiac rhythm disturbances, use of automatic defibrillator, reanimation medication, shock, respiratory distress.

Introductory lecture of EMA, first aid and emergency medical assistance (legal and ethical aspects, injury mechanisms), loss of consciousness, access to injured or suddenly ill, establishment of breathing, establishment of blood flow, order of procedures, bleeding, polytrauma and traumatic shock, emergency conditions in medicine, acute poisoning, head and brain injuries, facial and dental injuries, spinal injuries, chest injuries, abdominal injuries, wounds, procedures with amputated areas, complete treatment of burns, frostbites, injuries of bone and joint 1 and 2, rescue in mountains and hard-to-reach places, organ donation and transplantation, bad news reporting.
