Fixed prosthetics 2

The course teaches students about the basic biomedical and technological knowledge and fixed prosthetic skills on which clinical work is based in the treatment of damaged and / or lost functional crowns of teeth with fully or partially toothed jaws. The course aims to teach students about specific fixed prosthetic replacements (inlay bridges, wing bridges, shells) and complications and errors in their manufacture.

Communication with dental laboratory and principles of alloy choice. Methods of colour choice in fixed prosthetics: types of cement and clinical choice, temporary and permanent cementation: classical or adhesive; dentinal or enamel bond.Restorative clinic: complete, partial, metal, composite, ceramic, combined crowns. Fixed prosthetic supply of partial edentulousness: statics, strength, biological aspects of bridges, types of bridges and members. Clinic of metal, composite, and ceramic techniques: selection, indications, examples. Aesthetics in fixed prosthetics and the term of aesthetic dentistry. Multidisciplinary approach in fixed prosthetics. Combined fixed-mobile prosthetic supply: five levels (phases). Joint connections in prosthetics and conical constructions. Children’s fixed prosthetic care. Fixed prosthetic care for elderly people. Periodontal prosthetics. Local and systemic effects of fixed prosthetic supply, corrosion, galvanism, allergies to dental materials. Epidemiology is an indication for prosthetic care. Quality criteria for fixed prosthetic care and the impact of prosthetics on life quality.

1. Determine how to prepare teeth for fixed prosthetic replacements.

2. Determine the work with materials and techniques for taking prints.

3. Determine the types of cements and cementing techniques.

4. Critically assess the need for interdisciplinary collaboration with other health professionals

5. To judge the fixed prosthetic supply in childhood.

6. Valorize the aesthetic side of dental medicine and all aspects important for the quality of life.
