Prevention and control of infections in dental medicine

Getting students acquainted with possible infections in practices, how to prevent and control them. 

Contact protection measures during routine work and work with at-risk groups of patients. Disinfectants and antiseptics that are routinely used in stomatology.  Measures t prevent infections transmitted by blood.  Stab wound, procedure and processing.  Post-exposure prophylaxis.  New preparations in infection control.  Sterilisation in dental medicine: principles and conduction.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Assess the risk of transmission of infections during routine work in dentistry 
  2. Apply procedures in case of exposure to blood and body fluids
  3. Valorize methods of disinfection and sterilization and ways of their operation 
  4. Present safety measures at work in the dental practice 
  5. Recommend prophylactic measures after a stabbing incident in a dental practice
