Dental Diseases 3 course addresses the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the teeth and supporting structures, as well as the rehabilitation of the functional and aesthetic needs of the individual patient, introducing materials and their interactions with hard and soft dental tissues.

The course is carried out exclusively through clinical exercises and seminars, with the aim of training students to work correctly with patients, which implies intensive clinical work with the adoption of advanced theoretical and practical content. The knowledge and skills taught to students in the program include: preparation of tooth structure (conditioning of dentin, etching of enamel and dentin), bonding of glass ionomer cements to tooth structure, clinical application of glass ionomer cements, adhesive systems and composite materials, dentin hybridization, errors in working with adhesive systems and composite materials, Polymerization and polymerization stress, configuration factor, esthetic intracanal posts, adhesive cementation, restoration of traumatized teeth, whitening of vital teeth, biocompatibility of materials in restorative dentistry, manual and mechanical endodontics, postendodontic restoration of teeth.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Assess the need and act according to the acquired knowledge about therapeutic procedures, with the aim of protecting the pulp and preserving its vitality

2. To determine the application of theoretically learned diagnostics in endodontics

3. Assess the patient with an emergency endodontic case

4. Describe and apply appropriate materials and methods for the purpose of post-endodontic dental care

5. Compare the techniques of establishing a dry working field and apply them correctly

6. Identify complex restorative procedures

7. Anticipate possible complications in dental treatment and know how to prevent them
