Oral diseases and periodontology 2

The aim of the course in the part of oral diseases 2 is to educate students for practical work on patients with oral manifestations of systemic diseases; possibilities of their diagnosis and treatment; to teach students the problems of atypical oraofacial pain, salivary gland disease and oral precancerous lesions. The aim of the course in periodontology 2 is to teach the student the principles of supportive periodontal therapy, antibiotic treatment options, linking orthodontics and periodontology, learn the basics of periodontal surgery.

Precancerous conditions and lesions of the oral mucosa. Paraneoplastic processes on the oral mucosa. Diseases of the salivary glands. Oral mucosal pain and burning syndromes. Atypical orofacial pain. Oral focal infection. Immune disorders with oral manifestations. Mucocutaneous autoimmune diseases. Allergic reactions on the oral mucosa. Primary and secondary immunodeficiencies. Changes in the oral mucosa in respiratory, cardiovascular, blood, renal and gastrointestinal diseases. Changes in the oral mucosa in psychosomatic disorders, vitamin deficiencies, hormonal and metabolic disorders. Additional therapy (periodontal surgery, treatment of teeth with affected furcations, treatment of periimplant lesions), Reconstructive therapy (regenerative periodontal therapy, mucogingival therapy), Implant placement (implant placement time, surgical field), Occlusal and prosthetic treatment periodontitis, complications in implantology), Orthodontics and periodontology.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1.To determine diagnostic procedures of salivary glands and atypical orofacial pain (burning mouth syndrome and taste disturbances)

2. Compare the current knowledge in general medicine and their application in oral medicine related to the occurrence of oral diseases in patients with systemic diseases

3. Valorize the importance of oral precancerous lesions

4.Percentage indication for periodontal surgery;

5. Judge and recognize indications for antibiotic therapy
