Oral Surgery 1

The study programme in oral surgery teaches students about the first clinical examination of patients, especially with regard to oral surgical problems and differential diagnosis of pathological changes in the oral cavity. The objective is to enable the student, as a doctor of dental medicine in primary health care, to know all techniques of local anesthesia and possible complications, tooth extraction and treatment of all complications during and after extraction. To train students to identify all clinical images of odontogenic inflammation and treatment methods, including intraoral incisions and prescribing antibiotic therapy. During the practicum, students must master the possibilities of radiological diagnostics in oral surgery, learn the indications for a surgery (apicomy and alveolotomy), recognise cystic processes and know the basic settings for surgical treatment of jaw cysts and surrounding tissues. Research of differential diagnosis of benign and malignant changes timely reveals premalignant and malignant lesions. Also, the objective is to teach students how to set indications for pre-prosthetic surgery and assisting them in surgery to get acquainted with the most important oral surgery interventions.
